A ragtag group of soldiers are sent into the bush to seek out a tribal group that killed an earlier patrol. They plunder a village, kill dozens of unarmed women and children and the local witch doctor. Pretty soon, members of the platoon are picked off one-by-one by an unseen supernatural force as they descend into madness. Brutal and uncompromising, this film didn’t sit very well with the South African government, being as they were in the throes of Apartheid at the time. Ambush Soldier This version is mainly the visuals from the German version 'Platoon Warrior' uploaded by Jogi Bar ( ) synced with the audio from a bad VHS recording off TV I had on tape. I also used a few missing parts from an original VHS I have of the movie, but which was heavily censored of it's gore and language. So this is the best, uncensored version of all 3 copies combined. Central African Republic: The way of the warlord

Subscribe to France 24 now: FRANCE 24 live news stream: all the latest news 24/7 In the war-torn Central African Republic, former rebels who mounted a coup in 2013 are now dreaming of independence. FRANCE 24’s reporters James André and Anthony Fouchard went to meet one of the most powerful armed groups in the country, in the capital of their parallel state in the north. Since gaining independence from France in 1960, the Central African Republic has never truly experienced peace. In March 2013, a coalition of rebel groups called the Seleka seized power in country’s fifth coup d'état. Leaders on all sides exploited religious tensions for political ends and the country descended into violence. The Seleka, led by Michel Djotodia, was forced to give up power after nine months, completely unable to restore security. Under UN auspices, France deployed more than 2,000 soldiers to restore a fragile peace and avoid what it called a “genocide". But President Faustin-Archange Touadéra, who was elected in March 2016, has still not managed to bring calm to a country devastated by civil war. On the contrary: violence actually resumed in the capital Bangui in April 2018. ►► On Central African Republic's president Touadéra slams 'enemies of the peace' Since being routed, the rebels have been divided and fragmented, but have maintained their ability to cause trouble. The Popular Front for the Renaissance of the Central African Republic (known by its French acronym FPRC) is one of the most powerful armed groups. Abdoulaye Hissène, the FPRC’s military leader, is based in the northeastern town of Ndélé, but is massing his troops at the gates of Bangui. Towards a partition of the country? Although the prospect of a fresh coup seems unlikely, everyone is wondering about a possible partition of the country. The rebels prefer to talk about federalism and autonomy. Although they control all the main roads, provide security and even levy taxes, they do not want to create the impression of cutting ties with the central government, which does not consider the north a priority. The FPRC now wants to improve its image, severely tarnished after the violence of 2013. The rebels are literally sitting on a gold and diamond mine, the northeast being rich in natural resources. This is attracting Russian private security companies, officially invited by the central government to train army recruits. The climate is tense, but in the meantime, Abdoulaye Hissène knows very well that the weak army cannot dislodge him. "My men are in Bangui, they are just waiting for the political green light," he says. Whether he’s bluffing or not, guns speak louder than words and appear to be the main negotiating method in this region. SADF border war movie: At Thy Call

Movie made by Chris Dos Santos as a post graduate student project. BE WARNED: EXCESSIVE SWEARING! (but that is exactly how it was in our army and most probably in any army in the world..) The film was screened at the Cannes film festival and won a few international awards . I think this is quite an achievement for a student film of this scale being produced with a limited budget. It has not been publicly screened in South Africa. Personally in my 2 year SADF experience we did not encounter racial incidents like portrayed in this movie but I can imagine things like this happened in isolated cases. Political talk was forbidden in our unit. We also had much operational inter action with black members of the SADF and no segregation was present. Furthermore we did not experience the antagonism between Afrikaans and English speaking troops as portrayed here, but I realize it did happen in some units. After 2 years service people from different languages, religion and cultures were the best of buddies ever in our unit. The use of language is very similar with what we were confronted in 1978, swearing was absolutely ridiculously bad. There are some technical/historical mistakes in the movie but in general in my opinion the movie reflects quite a realistic atmosphere of the times back in 70's and 80's Here the awards: Won Best film, Best cinematography, best writer at Coal Stove awards 2009, Official selection Durban Int. Film Festival, Official Selection AFI film Festival Los Angeles, Official Selection Cape Winelands Film Festival, Best film at off the shelf film festival 2010. Please do not swear in your comments as there is an auto-ban on most swear words here :) This YouTube upload version of "At Thy Call" is slightly edited by me to exclude derogative racial language as I do not prefer such language on my channel.

Hinterhalt in Afghanistan

ANGOLA THE WAR Documentary Teaser

A faraway war, A clash of ideologies And some of the biggest battles fought on African soil since World War Two. For twenty-three years, five western nations, members of the Soviet bloc and two superpowers were locked into a war never formally declared. The South African Defence Force and the CIA backed UNITA pitted against communist Angolans, SWAPO, Cubans, and Russians. It all began in 1966. Once the Draft started, every able-bodied white South African male was called up for service; they were joined by the famed 32 Battalion, composed mainly of black FNLA veterans. They were forced to adapt, both physically and emotionally. It was a call that most answered. This was the Cold War played out on a third-world battleground. Where the skies of Angola were once the most hostile airspace in the world and Rules of engagement in this war were murky, complicated and secretive and who won it, remains fiercely contested even to this day. But a hard-won peace was eventually victorious. This is the story of the violent journey to get there. Many lost their lives. Emotional scars and lasting vivid memories remain. #borderwar #grensoorlog #sadf #bushwar #militaryhistory #militarydoccie #documentary #sahistory #lestweforget #angolacivilwar #saaf #recce _________________________________________ Now, you can watch the full doccie ANGOLA – THE WAR anytime you want by streaming or purchasing your copy from our Video-On-Demand portal: If you prefer a DVD order your copy now from [email protected] or online at Zone Free DVD's is available from [email protected] at ZAR150.00 excl. shipping.
